About Koki Doktori

Koki Doktori lives and works in New York. He arrived from Israel close to 50 years ago.

"When I project myself into the figure, I identify with this faceless, anonymous body. Through the  beauty and eroticism within the abstract background, I find myself participating in solidarity while searching for meaning."

"I have been trained as a sculptor. Therefore, my paintings are sculpturally oriented and they are built with layers of paint.  They finally arrive at a place where the boundary between figurative and abstraction is truly blurred.  The power of the work is in the line and in the ability to connect between tradition, subject and object figuration, painting and sculpture."

Doctori's work is held in private collections as well as selected museum collections in the United States such as National Gallery, Jewish Museum, Brooklyn Museum, Guggenheim Museum, and in Israel, Israel Museum, Tel Aviv Museum, Haifa Museum, Museum of Art Ein Harod.
