About Robert Mars

Robert Mars works within the School of California Pop Art where American icons of the past loom large. His work is a chronicle of Americana. Industrial and graphic design, architecture, vintage neon and mid-century icons all play important roles in his work. His paintings employ layers of color and subtle collaged printed material from the 1950's and 1960's. The artist's mixed media nostalgic images of large neon signs, motels and consumer products convey a sense of a time, place and feeling worth remembering. Mars' work helps us settle back into that hopefulness that used to be part of the American dream and seems so elusive today.

Mars is a graduate of the Parsons School of Design and has shown his work internationally at galleries in Tokyo, Munich, London, Melbourne, Vancouver and nationally in Los Angeles, Aspen, Boston, Atlanta and New York.
